RACHEL HANNON – SENIOR CONSULTANT
Rachel has a strong track record in both the corporate world and as an entrepreneur, as well as operating as an Angel Investor in high growth companies. With experience gained in management & HR consulting, leadership development, recruitment, corporate finance and tax, she is equally at home with both the financial and human capital aspects of business.
During her corporate career, much of which was at PwC, she delivered a range of projects for major clients across the private and public sectors, covering areas such as reorganisation and restructuring, growth strategies, change programmes and culture change, management audits, leadership and talent development, reward strategies and employee engagement. She also specialised in leading on the appointment of leadership roles across the private and public sectors and was subsequently internally headhunted for a secondment to the private equity team within corporate finance, focusing on deal origination across Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle.
She has also co-founded 2 business start-ups in manufacturing and senior level recruitment and leadership development. The latter of which, GatenbySanderson, a search, selection and leadership development business, became a market leader in its field within 7 years before she successfully exited in 2010.
Over the last 7 years, she has been key in the growth of a number of businesses as a Board advisor or Non-Executive Director, utilising her experience of having been there and done it herself, successfully growing and exiting a business. She has also worked as a Consultant with businesses in a range of sectors including training and management development, organisational development, professional services, recruitment, construction, engineering and manufacturing. She has worked with organisations ranging from large multi-nationals to business start-ups, as well as organisations in the public and not for profit sectors, either delivering specific projects (often focused around growth and exit, strategy and planning and leadership development) or retained as a longer term Board advisor. She has also mentored a range of senior leaders including Chairmen and Chief Executives in both large and small private and public sector organisations.
In addition, as a Business Angel, she has invested in over 11 businesses across a range of sectors including; technology, education, medical devices, food manufacturing, professional services, human capital and social enterprises.
She is also currently Chair of the Leeds Community Foundation, Chairman of Real World Group Ltd, an Independent main Board member at the University of Bolton, where she also chairs the Resources and Remuneration Committees, and up until 2014 she also chaired appointments panels for the Judicial Appointments Commission.
Her portfolio of Non-Executive roles covers organisations employing well over 1,000 people and through her investments, she has been responsible for the creation or safeguarding of countless jobs.
